I do not understand why "Radar" is on this album. Supposedly it's a little less manipulated, but I discern no difference.

I'm listening to the rest of the album now. So far, this is a step backward -- up 'til now, each album has been better than the last. Never know, though. Maybe it will improve and/or grow on me...

A little long, but still pretty amazing... You can pretty much stop watching after THE EXORCIST though.

Having heard of his death hours ago, I am still so shocked and so sad.

Not that they merit comparison, but I'd have to say I liked Speed Racer even more than Iron Man. Though of course, I'm weird that way.

09:13 am - Paramount Blu-rays
May 20
Bee Movie
Face/Off
Next

June 3
Cloverfield
There Will Be Blood

June 24
The Spiderwick Chronicles

I'm guessing Face/Off and Next are just going out because they were made before the studio went HD DVD exclusive; they were probably lying around some warehouse.

Now, where's Sweeney Todd???

08:52 pm - Horror marathon update
Looks like Alien is out of the question. There is only *a* print available of the theatrical release version, and it's in New York and apparently would have to be flown here and back at $250 each way. (Ridiculous.)

I have booked Psycho and Videodrome, however, so with Dead Alive and Eraserhead, I'm looking to book two more titles.

08:42 pm - Horror Marathon 2008
Last year's marathon started at 8pm Friday and ran until about 11:30 Saturday morning. By the time the last movie started, I wanted to kill myself, I was so tired. At that point, I couldn't even think about doing it again, but of course a few weeks ago, I started to think, "Well, yeah, let's do that again."

It was movies only last year, even though I'd planned on doing a little something between shows. I'd licensed the rights to screen some of the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror specials, but that fell through because of some weird moratorium on public performance rights w/r/t Fox TV shows at the last minute. So this year, I'm planning on editing together a bunch of old trailers and really planning a program. That said, I don't want this year's marathon to feel as long as last year's, so I thought I'd cut it down from eight movies to six or seven.

The marathon will be on a Saturday this year: October 25. So far, I've booked ERASERHEAD and DEAD ALIVE -- both very recent prints (within the last three years). I was trying to get FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 in 3-D, but the distributor was a pain in the ass about it, so I'm going to put off dealing with that until next year. My goal right now is just to get a lineup in place, so we can start promoting and selling tickets online as soon as possible.

Any comments or suggestions?

Some Like It Hot is on MGM HD right now. It's a little dirty here and there, but it's really never looked better -- at least in my lifetime.

If someone introducing Barack Obama said, "You can have your Jack Nicklaus, we've got Barack Obama," well -- that would just be totally random and stupid. If the only basis for your comparison is race, then yeah, that's racist.

07:08 pm - BSG fans
From The Digital Bits:

Here's something cool for you Battlestar Galactica fans, though. A friend of The Bits who works on the staff over at The Late Show with David Letterman sent this in: Tonight's episode is going to feature the cast of BSG, in costume as their characters, reading the list of Top Ten Reasons to Watch the New Season of Battlestar Galactica! Be sure to tune in for it if you're a fan. Thanks for the heads-up, Jay!

Remember former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey? He's the guy who appointed his gay lover as a top aide, resigned and came out simultaneously, just before his hetero marriage finally came to an end. The big story is that he and his wife are feuding over some threesomes they allegedly had with another man early in their marriage. McGreevey and the other man are on the record, while the ex-Mrs. McGreevey vehemently denies it.

Pedersen told the Newark Star-Ledger that he had sex with Matos McGreevey while her husband watched at the couple's condo in Woodridge, N.J. The sex often took place after dinner at a local T.G.I. Friday's, he said.

Ewwww. I mean, T.G.I. Friday's???

I don't get why these pundits keep saying things like "there seems to be a reversal" or "Hillary is winning back her base." She has always led here. She once led here by 25 points. Obama closed the gap. Saying things like that suggests that her supporters went to him, then came back to her: That's what "buyer's remorse" is. In fact, all that's happened is tons of her supporters have moved to him -- just not enough to give him a clear majority. So what?
